Blockage (Message of Light)
From the book of the prophet Jeremiah 8:7 :
Even the stork in the sky knows its appointed seasons, and the turtledove, swallow, and crane observe the time of their migration. But my people do not know the law of the Lord.
Obey God, have faith in Him, do His will… what does all this mean for the person that we are? Man thinks he wants to trust in the Lord, surrender to Him as prescribed by the Holy Scriptures (Proverbs 3:5-6). But he is not ready to accept what happens in his life… So one might wonder: for us, who is God? What do we think when we say we want to do His will?
In the book of Isaiah (49:8), the Lord speaks as follows : «Thus says the Lord: In a time of favor I have answered you, on a day of salvation I have helped you…«. What is the «favorable time«? Who defines it? Most of the time, man thinks he has the answer to these questions. In our minds, what we desire here and now is surely what we need. And we insist again and again to obtain it. We deploy all necessary means to achieve our goals… Sometimes it works even if we suffer losses. But many times, it gets blocked! And consternation and incomprehension set in… Afflictions, illnesses, and suffering unfortunately originate from this incessant effort by man to force the course of life!
With his limited intelligence, man hardly holds the keys to life. He doesn’t even know himself… how could he fathom God’s plans? «The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.«, declares Christ in John 3:8. God’s thoughts are so much higher than ours (Isaiah 55:9). Therefore, it is absolutely not up to us to try to control the dynamics of things in our lives. But we can seek to understand this dynamic: when something blocks, it is surely a sign from heaven, informing us that the favorable time has not yet come! A logic that is both clear and simple, but also bewildering and filled with that trust in God which gives life. For what does it mean to be a disciple of Christ if not surrendering ourselves to the action of His love within us?
«In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it!» the Lord tells us again today (Isaiah 30:15). We must trust God, we must trust the life He gives us. Let’s stop seeing evil everywhere and follow the course of events. Let’s seek to understand what is happening. If I desire something that is blocked, instead of starting to analyze and judge what is happening… why not calm down and rely on my conscience? on my soul? it knows the truth because it houses the Holy Spirit who enlightens everything. This way, having unraveled the mystery of these situations that I qualify as «difficult», I will become stronger! And I will understand that everything comes at the right time for those who know how to wait… and a burning faith in God will spring forth from within me as Francis Schlatter exhorts: «I am nothing; my Heavenly Father is everything. Have faith in Him and all will be well.«
